All Blacks Visit Lower Moutere School

We waited with anticipation on the court all dressed in black. We sat in the shape of 'GO ABS!' The All Blacks flew over in their big black helicopter and landed on the field. We cheered and chanted ALL BLACKS! ALL BLACKS!
Ali Williams and Ben Franks walked over and were greeted by the National Anthem and a Haka.
Ben Franks told us he used to go to Lower Moutere School and Mrs Wilkinson said, "Yes and I used to teach you, you haven't changed a bit." He remembered it was the year two classrooms burnt down and they had to have school in the Memorial Hall. He looked for his cousins Kase, Cory and Olivia. Olivia wasn't at school but the boys were.
We then had a quick game of touch with the All Blacks before having our photo taken with them and they had to fly away.
It was AWESOME!!!!

Cross Country!

Shared writing with room 1 - 'The Day of the Wind."

On Friday 20th of May rooms 1 and 2 did some shared writing about the windy day we had earlier in the week.  Before we wrote we listened to the story by Joy Cowley, 'Day of the Wind.'

We saw three big piles of leaves like a tornado in the wind.  "Ha haa," went the wind.  "Hoo hoo," went the wind and out we went.  By Ben and Damien.

On the windy day we see leaves and wind and some ladybirds.  We had a leaf fight.

In room 2 one of the children opened the window then in surprise the children flew out the window.  "Weeeeee," cried the children, "We are flying."

The Great Stories.

Room 1 and room 2 made great stories.  The windows were open so the great stories danced out of the classroom.  The trees blew the stories around the school.

On the day of the wind we made stories and they came alive.  A person from the rugby ate a 20 metre hotdog.  By Kase and Lucus.

On the day of the wind there was a tornado swooping up all the leaves up into the pile.  I was blocking the leaves and we all had a leaf fight.  It was an awesome day and we played.

"Hoo- hoo," howled the wind.  The wind rushed like a tornado into rooms 1 and 2.  Cloe and Angelica stretched their arms out like fairies and they flew out the door around the playground and back inside.  "Ha - haa! That was fun." they said.

On the day of the wind we played in the leaves.  We really wanted to go to the snow.  The wind says... "Ooo-ooo, and Aaa-aaa."  The wind blows us into the sky.  We fly like birds.

Johnny jumped into the wind.  We flew into the town.  The leaves swirled all around us.

The wind was so strong that the children from Lower Moutere School opened the windows.  The wind blew the children around the playground and back again.

On the day of the wind we played in the autumn leaves.  The leaves flew up into the air and made a tornado.  We had leaf fights.

Dominic from room 1 had just got back from Australia and really wanted to write about his trip...

I went to Australia.  I saw lots of kangaroos.  I saw lots of koalas.

Captain Blunderbus Can't Find His Treasure...

We were reading our books when somebody said, Hey look there's a pirate!"

His name was Captain Blunderbus.  He had a trolley with a treasure chest on it, but he told us he had lost his treasure,  but he did show us what was in his treasure chest.

He had lots of interesting things in his treasure chest like; a sharks tooth, a telescope, a blunder gun, a smelly handkerchief, some cabin biscuits, some cold tea, a book -( but because he didn't go to school he didn't know how to read) and lots interesting things but no treasure!

He gave Mrs Wilkinson a treasure map. 

 He forgot to get it back so rooms 1,2 and 3 went out to the Isle of Rabbits to find the treasure the next day.

Welcome to Room 2

Hello and welcome! We are finally on line with  Room 2's blog.  Rachel Perry and Shelley Gibson are team teaching in Room 2 this year.  This term has been another action packed bonanza and 2011 has taken off with a hiss and a roar!
